Features Comparison of Wilson A900 vs A1000 vs A2000

Brand

Wilson produces these three gloves, a renowned American Sporting Brand. This brand has an outstanding reputation for its product quality. And very popular among Baseball players.

Gloves Type

See, every Baseball position needs a different type and size based gloves. Do you know why? Let’s dive into the answer.

  • Catchers’ Gloves

Well, think of the catcher’s position. The catcher requires more oversized gloves than other positions. And he does not even need individual finger pockets. In the gloves, they got extra finger padding and a hinge. Overall, the characteristics help them form a claw shape and help to catch the ball quickly.

A catcher even uses more comprehensive gloves to catch a Knuckleball. And to provide a better target for the pitcher, they use phosphorescent paint around the ridges of the gloves. Sometimes they also use double hinges.

The gloves’ size can be between 32 to 34 inches. Catcher’s gloves are also known as Catcher’s Mitts.

  • First Baseman’s Gloves

These gloves also lack individual finger pockets. It is also known as mitts (like a catcher’s gloves). A first baseman needs to pick or scoop the balls from the infielder. The pattern size of the glove is between 12½ to 12¾ inches (from the wrist to the tip).

Most First Basemen are left-handed. So they need a right-hand glove.

  • Infielders’ Gloves

These gloves are designed to make a quick throw to any base. These are usually smaller than the First Baseman’s gloves. These patterns are basically between 11 to 12 inches.

  • Pitchers’ Gloves

A pitcher’s gloves usually have an 11¾ to 12 inches pattern size. These types of gloves are designed to conceal the grip of the ball.

  • Outfielders’ Gloves

These gloves are pretty long and have deep pockets. So, fielders can catch fly balls easily in any movement. The sizes are around 12 to 12¾ inches. And to grab the ball, the gloves usually form a flatter squeeze, which is suitable for an Outfield Baseball position.

Different Available Sizes

First, let’s see, the Wilson A900 has a variety of sizes.

This model got an 11.5 and 12 inches pattern for a Pitcher. On the other hand, it has the perfect glove for a Catcher, around 34 inches. And to serve an Outfielder, it got 12 inches and 12.5 inches. Furthermore, the same size goes for the First Baseman.

The Wilson A1000, on the other hand, got more size variation. For Infield gloves, this model has three sizes, 11, 11.5, and 12 inches.

Furthermore, a Pitcher’s glove has 11.5 and 12 inches pattern sizes. Moreover, an Outfield Baseball glove has 12, 12.25, and 12.5 inches size variations. This model offers a mid-level size for catchers, which is 33 inches. And finally, the First Baseman gloves have the perfect size range.

The Wilson A2000 model does not serve the Catchers. This series of Wilson Gloves with four different sizes are mostly for Pitchers, Infielders, Outfielders’ and First Basemen. This special fielding glove is primarily perfect for Outfield Baseball.

Design

Suppose you ask me, among these three models, which one I prefer for design. This Wilson A series may have a similar design but a unique color variation.

So, without a doubt, I will choose the A2000 model because it offers more color options than the other two models and looks better.

(Take a look at the Table)

Leather Quality

The Wilson A900 model’s leather is not the best compared to the A1000 and A2000 models. But in this price range, the leather quality is better than other gloves you will get on the market. You can feel the durability and strength of these gloves, even if you catch a speedy ball.

Furthermore, the Wilson A1000 is built with a high-grade Cowhide Sell. This grade of leather is very sturdy. According to the producer, this glove is always game ready. And the quality of these gloves is far better than the same priced gloves available on the market.

Finally, the Wilson A2000 model is built with Pro Stock Steer leather. This leather will give a unique experience to the users. The high-level durability of this glove’s leather can serve you a lifetime only if you provide a little care and maintenance.

Break in Time

Wilson A900 is not the best quality glove. And this model does not come in game ready condition. So, it requires the necessary time to break-in. However, you will have it ready for the game quickly compared to the same types of gloves.

On the other hand, according to manufacturers, the Wilson A1000 is always game ready. But from my experience and many others, it also requires time to break in. A new A1000 can be felt a bit stiffer. Even finger pockets and the hinges can be rigid.

Well, do not think that high-quality leather gloves do not require a break-in. And it is not true that the leather quality is terrible if the gloves need more time to break-in.

Nonetheless, Wilson gloves are not game ready gloves. Even the Wilson A2000 requires a break-in effort. Maybe it needs less time to break in, but it needs time to be game ready.

Webbing

Webbing is the most important and exciting part of Baseball Gloves. Every glove series has different sizes and dedicated players. Furthermore, those got various types of practical webbing.

The Wilson A900 Infielders’ Gloves (11.5 inches) have an H-Web styles pattern. Then the Single Post Web pattern is designed for the Outfielders’ Gloves (12.5 inches). And the Half Moon web pattern is for the Catchers’ Mitts (34 inches).

The Wilson A1000 model also has various types of webbing patterns. The H-Web design or T post Web pattern is dedicated to the Infielders’ Gloves (11 to 12 inches). Single post web pattern, which is suitable for an Outfield Baseball Glove. And then there can be many other patterns for other Gloves. For example, include Two-Piece, Three Bar Single Post, dual post webbing patterns, Single Post, and Victory Web Patterns.

Then there comes the Wilson A2000 model. This model follows the H-Web design or Cross Web for the Infielders’ Gloves. For pitchers’ Gloves, the webbing is T Post or a Two-Piece pattern. However, this model has Six Fingers Trap or Half Moon Web Pattern for other positions.

Value for Money

The price of the Wilson A900 is significantly lower than A1000 and A2000. On the other hand, you can buy two Wilson A1000 gloves at the cost of Wilson A2000 gloves. Though the Wilson A2000 has some advanced features and will give you a unique experience.

And the Wilson A900 may be very economical, but it is not that high-quality gloves. So, in the mid-range, I will say the Wilson A1000 is the best and value for money gloves than its counterpart.
