Actually, when it comes to Wilson baseball gloves, you cannot deny any of its gloves. Wilson gloves are highly preferable in terms of performance, design, durability, and quality.

But, there are things to compare between different series and models. Previously, I have compared two of Wilson’s premium glove series, Wilson A1000 vs A2000

I was meant to offer another comparative evaluation of the A1000 when I finished using it, this time with the A900.

These two, on the other hand, provide the best overall performance in their respective classifications. In order to determine which one is superior, let’s examine them side by side and see which one is the best.

Wilson A900 Vs A1000 Gloves: An Overall Comparison Table

Wilson is regarded as one of the industry’s pioneers in the field of baseball equipment. There is no dispute about the quality of their baseball items.

Baseball gloves, on the other hand, are one of their most popular goods. They continue to manufacture a large number of glove series. Wilson’s A1000 and A900 glove lines are two of the most popular Wilson glove models.

As I am going to do a review comparison between these two. As a former professional baseball player, and a current high school level coach, I have used them thoroughly for a long day for coaching purposes.

By the way, let’s check the differences between A900 vs A1000 Wilson gloves at a glance.

Wilson A900 Features Details

Let’s start with the details of the Wilson A900.

You might hear the popular A2000 and A2K series of Wilson. But, A900 is also a good glove series that Wilson produces. Though it is not a high-end glove series.

However, if I talk about the specialty of the glove, I would say it is a perfect shot for infield and outfield positions. Though this series also designs gloves for other positions too.

The most significant fact about the glove is its price. As a lower-priced glove, it outperforms other gloves in its class. The marketing focus of the glove stands for its pricing, along with performance.

Let’s check out the particular entities of A900.

Design & Construction

First and foremost, let us discuss its appearance. With its black and British Tan colored leather, the Wilson A900 series maintains an old-school appearance.

As I gather the official information, the Wilson A900 series is constructed with a double palm construction. The double palm brings more comfort and shock absorbent. As a result, catching balls becomes easier and more comfortable.

Wilson A900 Is Entirely A Leather-made Glove

By the way, the glove is entirely leather-made. The leather is soft. So, this glove is almost game-ready (less break-in period needed).

On the other hand, the A900 design implemented a low-profile heel. The low-profile heel facilitates the utmost flexibility to adjust with hands during fielding. It allows you to easily fold.

Also, these ease the catching of grounders while hit by the hitters. Aside from this, the negative effect of the short jump is also reduced while making hops.

However, the glove is constructed in different sizes as well. They include 11.5 inches, 11.75 inches, and 12 inches. Another sizing is available with a 34 inches catcher’s mitt.

The A900 series’ gloves, by the way, are a wonderful match for Pedroia’s fit. As a result, this series of gloves are suitable for those with tiny hands.

Finally, the tiny handhole and finger stalls provide for more control over the gloves when wearing them and catching the balls.

Summing all construction facts, the glove series perfectly keeps the weight small. Finally, the A900 series gloves are lightweight which ensures the fast movement of fielders while moving to catch the balls.

Leather Quality

Perhaps you’ve heard that A900 gloves are made of the highest-quality leather available. But, no, I’ll admit that the nicest leather isn’t utilized in the production of A900.

However, there is no denying the superior quality of the leather utilized in the production of A900 gloves as well.

The biggest fact about its leather is, it outperforms any branded gloves with the same price and features. The leather is durable, strong, and highly reliable to catch high-speed balls.

By the way, A900 is a full-leather-made glove series.

Web Pattern

The web pattern of the baseball glove is one of the most essential features of the baseball glove design. It indicates how well you can catch the balls in various spots on the field.

Catching the balls is accomplished by the use of a web pattern, which is a tightly braided piece of leather that joins your thumb and pointing finger.

As a result, the shape of the baseball gloves is influenced by web patterns and the location of the player on the field.

Essentially, the infielder gloves of the A900 series are constructed using the standard H-web. This facilitates the fastest transfer of the ball from the gloved hand to the throwing hand.

Wilson A900 H-web Pattern Generates Fast-catching and Transfer

Outfielder gloves with a circumference of 12.5 inches, on the other hand, have a single-post web design. The single post web pattern is sometimes referred to as the cross-web pattern.

Finally, the half-moon web design is used on the catcher’s mitts from the A900 series.

Break-In Period

Basically, if you utilize leather in the construction of anything, it will take some time to get comfortable with it. That means, it requires an average break-in time.

Break-in time varies depending on the quality of the leather. For example, if you choose high-quality leather, it will take longer to break them in since they are stiffer than regular leather.

In contrast, low-profile and average-quality leather needs less break-in time than high-profile leather. By the way, the A900 glove series is a standard-issue glove series in its category. Because the leather used in the A900 is not very stiff, it requires less break-in time than usual.

By following the right break-in procedure, you may have the glove ready for games in a matter of days.

Pricing

Actually, when you think about the A900 series, you may find everything above average. But, everything will be crunchy when you see the pricing of the glove.

A900 Catcher's Mitt With Half Moon Webbing

The pricing starts at A900 with just above $100. With the same features, you would not be able to find the same quality gloves from other brands.

So, the price is perfectly affordable and value for money, I would say.

Performance

To summarize, the A900 is a terrific performer in its price range and class. In fact, it outperforms the gloves in the same category that are priced the same as it is.

With the A900 series gloves, the balls will not deceive you into being caught, no matter where you play. It makes no difference whether the ball is grounded, fly balls, or line drives.

Because it is practically a game-ready glove series, you will be able to make use of its full potential from the very first few days of use.

Because of its lightweight construction, the glove will not interfere with your ability to drive and transfer the balls quickly. Consequently, I believe that you will not be hindered in your endeavor.

Wilson A1000 Features

Let’s talk about the Wilson A1000 gloves. Wilson A1000 is one of the most popular lineups of Wilson gloves.

With the design, construction, look, and comfort, everything is up to the mark. I said so because I have already used different models of the A1000 series. And, I have also written a comparison review as well which I mentioned before.

But, if I want to compare A1000 vs A900 Wilson, I need to recap everything once again. So, let’s explore the A1000 briefly.

Design & Construction

If you observe, you will see a modern vibe in the A1000 series from Wilson. Every model of the glove series has a modern look, a new school feels. I have some personal preferences for modern design.

By the way, the Wilson A1000 glove is constructed with full-grain black blonde leather. This leather is the type of premium category, though entirely not.

Wilson A1000 Is Made Of Full-Grain Super Durable Leather

But you know, the full-grain leather is just highly durable. The durability of the leather is its main significance.

I personally saw every review of this glove is positive. The full-full grain leather ensures that you are with the glove for a number of years.

On the other hand, the full-grain leather also brings lightweight to the glove as well. So, with its lightweight feature, it will help you to move your hand fast, which will not allow you to miss the balls.

As the glove has almost all fielding position availability, wherever you stand, nothing will down you in the fielding. Even if it is on the grounders, line drives, fly balls, or catches.

Leather Quality

There is no lacking in the leather quality of the Wilson A1000 series. High-grade cowhide is used in the A1000 series.

The black-blond full-grain leather is premium, highly durable, and the strongest one. As a high-grade leather, full-grain is stiff and needs a significant time for break-in.

Though the manufacturer claims it’s a game-ready glove. But, I shouldn’t say this. However, the processed full-grain leather is up for long-term use. You don’t need to be bothered with your A100 leather for a couple of years at least.

In summing up with A1000 leather, you will not find any complaints about it.

Web Pattern

As I mentioned earlier that web pattern is the fact that changes the shape, look, and construction of gloves.

As a series, A1000 has different models that use different web patterns for different positions.

Like, the infield gloves use the common H-web or T post web pattern. On the other hand, the outfielder glove uses 3 bar single post web/lacing. Also, the first-base mitt of A1000 Wilson uses both open and single post web.

Wilson A1000 Is Designed With Different Webbing Generating Bigger Pockets

On the other hand, the Wilson A1000 series catcher’s mitt uses standard one-piece webbing on it.

So, you see, webbing is perfectly used for particular positions in different models.

Break-in Period

Despite the fact that the A1000 maker thinks the gloves are virtually game-ready, I have a different take on the matter.

Because the series is made of full-grain leather, it is as rigid as one would anticipate. As a result, a minimum break-in time for the A1000 is required in order for it to be played.

The final result is that you will get a brand new A1000 out of the box with a stiff thumb/little finger and hinge. With correct break-in procedures followed, you should have the glove playable within two weeks of purchasing it.

Padding Comfort

The implementation of padding in A1000 is just incredible in its complexity. According to Wilson, the A1000 gloves are capable of withstanding ball throwing speeds of up to 800 km/h on them.

As a result, even the fastest balls coming off the bat should not be a source of concern. For an inexpensive baseball glove, the padding comfort is truly out of this level.

In terms of padding comfort, I’d want to give it a perfect score.

Pricing

A1000 Catcher's Mitt With Single-Piece Webbing

With some additional advanced and premium features, the A1000 series is available for around $150. With the budget segment, it is the best value for money.

Also, you may find a good discount on different marketplace.

Performance

If I sum up my feelings on the A1000 in a single line, I would say that I am completely happy with its performance.

I would even go so far as to claim that it outperforms any other gloves in the same price range and category.

Its ultra-durable black blond full-grain leather guarantees the longest possible wear and tear resistance. The tremendous padding that has been added to it, on the other hand, is beyond comprehension.

As a consequence, the A1000 outperforms all other competitors in its category. When I wear this glove, I have a great sense of security. It will not inconvenience you by preparing sweets on the spot.

The treated full-grain leather helps to keep the glove moisture-free for an extended period of time during play.

Wilson A900 Vs A1000 Gloves Comparison: What Is The Difference Between Wilson A900 And A1000?

Now, let’s come to the main focus of this post. If I compare Wilson A900 vs A1000, how will they differ?

As the two gloves are different in segment and pricing, I would say expecting some differences is normal in Wilson a1000 vs a900.

Let’s compare them side by side and find out the differences between them.

Web Pattern

First, let’s come to the webbing. The webbing is the most important for the fielding position of gloves. A900 gloves use different web patterns like H-web for their infield gloves. On the other hand, a single post/cross web is used in outfield gloves.

Also, the half-moon pattern is used in the catcher’s mitt of A900.

If we look at the A1000 gloves, we can see they also implemented H-web, single post, T-web pattern, and pro-laced web for their gloves. In their catcher’s mitt, Wilson A1000 uses the one-piece web pattern which is conventional.

Material Difference

The biggest difference is in the material used. The A900 uses regular standard leather. As it is not a premium class glove, the use of regular leather is ok. But, with the price range and category, the leather that A900 used outperforms the same categorized gloves of other brands.

Actually, the A900 did something beyond the expectation. The A900 is strong enough, able to catch the speedest ball as well.

On the other hand, the A1000 uses almost premium category cowhide. Its black blonde full-grain leather is just durable, strong, and performs without any condition. The glove is so durable that you won’t need to purchase another glove for 4 to 5 years.

Design And Construction Comparison

You will find the A900 in several colors like British Tan, black, dark brown, etc. As I mentioned above, the A900 series implemented double palm protection which lessens the probability of hand injury to almost zero percent. It also ensures the highest shock absorbent and the performance of the pocket of the glove.

On the other hand, A1000 is also found in different colors as well. The webbing is perfect and easy to catch the balls. The super durable full-grain leather ensures the peak durability of the glove.

Also, the super comfort padding of the glove ensures the highest safety for your hand and comfort in catching balls. The bigger pocket of the A1000 series is perfect for keeping the balls in place easily. All things became more reliable with its lightweight design.

Sizing

In a sizing comparison, you will find several sizes for different positions. For example, the A900 facilitates Pedroia fit gloves for small hands. Also, 11.5 to 12.5 inches are available in regular gloves. On the other hand, the catcher’s mitt is designed 34 inches in size.

In the A100, there are also Pedroia fit gloves available. The range of size is 111 inches to 2.5 inches. By the way, the catcher’s mitt is sized 33 inches for A1000.

Break-in Period

In the break-in, there is a clear difference between these two. As the A900 series is made of regular leather, this is not that stiff. So, in this case, A900 needs less than the average break-in period when comparing Wilson A900 vs A1000.

On the other hand, the A1000 glove uses almost premium black blonde full-grain leather. This leather is stiff out of the box in brand new condition. As expected, here the break-in period is required. Ultimately, this glove is not a game-ready one.

Hands Availability

Basically, the two gloves are right-hand throws. Because most baseball players are right-handers.

But, left-hand throwing is also available. So, in this category, these two are the same.

Performance

So, which one will win when you compare Wilson A900 vs A1000?

This is a little tricky to answer. Because these two gloves are not identical in the category.

In its class, A900 outperforms any glove from any brand. Because it offers the best construction, leather, and design in the price category. Since it does not compete with the A1000 series, it might be an alternative to A1000 if you are looking for something less expensive.

On the other hand, I think A1000 is clearly king in its category also. The full-grain leather, comfort padding implementation, ensures the best performance possible. Also, it is highly durable. So, you don’t need to be concerned for another 4 to 5 years.

The soft feel of the glove after being broken in will give you the utmost comfort and ease to catch the balls.

So, who is the winner of Wilson A1000 vs A900? In my opinion, you cannot say one of them is the clear winner. These two are almost the best in their class and category.

So, it depends on your budget which one you should purchase.
