Babe Ruth’s Perfect Games: On June 23 1917 Babe Ruth played for the Boston Red Sox. Encountered a peculiar situation. He walked the batter of the Washington Senators, which resulted in his ejection from the game.
However, there was no need to worry! Ernie Shore stepped in as his replacement. Proceeded to retire all 27 batters he faced. This exceptional performance is famously referred to as a combined no-hitter.
Harvey Haddix: Let’s fast forward to May 26 1959 where Harvey Haddix of the Pittsburgh Pirates experienced a game. He flawlessly pitched a game for 12 innings against the Milwaukee Braves.
Unfortunately, luck was not on his side during the bottom of the 13th inning when an error allowed a batter to reach base and ultimately score. This led to a loss for Haddix and the Pirates.
