Oakland Coliseum Bag Policy 2024: Backpacks Are Allowed!

Last Updated on December 24, 2023

The Oakland Athletics were eliminated from the MLB postseason this year by losing against the Kansas City Royals on August 23, 2023. But you know what, they don’t lose their bag policy!

So, what is the Oakland Coliseum bag policy? Hola! Oakland Coliseum allows backpacks. This is pretty happy news for visitors. By the way, the bag must not exceed the dimensions of 16” x 16” x 8”.

I will guide you about the bag and other item policies of the Oakland Athletics home ground in this guide. I am pretty sure that this will help you in the next season if you are thinking about exploring and enjoying a game for the first time here.

Oakland Coliseum Bag Policy: Which Bags Can You Bring in A’s Events?

Backpacks are allowed in Oakland Coliseum

It’s a pretty nice thing that the Oakland Coliseum Authority allows backpacks there. It’s like the Citi Field bag policy, which I found the second one that allows backpacks.

And what is most surprising here is that backpacks don’t need to be clear/transparent. However, bags must not be larger than 16” x 16” x 8”.

Almost all bags are allowed under the mentioned size, which is the standard size by MLB. For more clarification, here is a list of permitted bags you can carry inside the Oakland Coliseum baseball field.

  • Backpacks
  • Purses
  • Medical equipment bags
  • Child care bags, including diaper bags, clothes bags, etc.
  • Clutches
  • Briefcase
  • Luggage
  • Soft-sided coolers, and so on.

In my experience, the Oakland Coliseum bag policy is one of the most reliable and easiest ones. There are no generic restrictions on bags.

However, as I mentioned earlier, you must follow the bag-size guideline. Also, all bags are subject to inspection prior to entering the ballpark.

If you violate the bag policy, the items will be seized by the gate pass security, and they won’t store the bags. And it is certain that you won’t get your prohibited bags if the security ceases them once.

Hard-Sided Coolers Aren’t Permitted Inside Oakland Coliseum

No hard-sided coolers are allowed- Only soft-sided ones are permitted

In the bag category, there is one exception: hard-sided coolers. You can’t bring hard-sided coolers regardless of the size.

So, if you think about bringing a cooler for your drinks and water, please consider a soft-sided cooler.

Note: There are no check-in facilities for prohibited bags in the Oakland Coliseum.

Other Permitted Items Policies in Oakland Coliseum Events

The Oakland Coliseum bag policy is straight and clear. I hope this won’t bother you in the next season if no change is made.

However, alongside the bag policy, let’s check what other items are permitted to carry inside the Oakland Athletics’ home ground.

Baseball Bats for Autograph

The Oakland Coliseum Authority surprises me with their baseball bat policy. Where all ballparks directly prohibit any strong objects that can be used as harmful and attacking objects, they are different here.

You can bring your baseball bat to get autographs from your favorite baseball players.

By the way, you must check the bat to the Security Office at Section 126 forty-five minutes before the game starts. However, the authority reserves the right to remove the bat at any time if they feel it is necessary.

Banners and Signs

You can show banners and signs during the game to express your gratitude for the game. But, you have to keep the following aspects of banners and signs in mind.

  • Make sure the dimensions of the banners and signs are more than 6 feet wide and 3 feet tall.
  • Don’t put any abusive and obscene language on them.
  • Ensure that your contained banners and signs don’t obstruct the sight of any other visitors/guests.
  • Don’t put any commercial content on them.
  • Don’t try to enter the outfield with banners and signs.
  • Make sure your banners and signs don’t cover any paid commercials or any official signage of the ballpark authority.
  • Please don’t parade with the banners and signs around the stadium.

Oakland Coliseum Food and Beverage Policy

Food in non-glass containers and sealed water bottles are allowed

If you are a food lover and love to carry your favorite snacks with you, here is the deal. The ballpark authority allows you to bring your loved food inside the ballpark.

But you have to bring your food in non-glass containers. Also, keep the container size not larger than 16” x 16” x 8”.

Aside from the food, you can bring non-alcoholic beverages and water. But make sure the beverage and water are factory-sealed. Unsealed beverages and water bottles will not pass the gate. Also, the beverage or water must be no larger than 1 liter.

Cameras for Photos and Videos, Go-Pro Style Cameras

Personal cameras and camcorders are permitted—no reproduction of the game

You can bring your personal cameras and camcorders. You also can bring Go-Pro-style cameras as well.

But please remember, don’t try to reproduce the game. This is subject to a criminal act, and you could be arrested. No commercial purposes cameras are allowed.

Also, no monopods and tripods are prohibited.

Service Animals Are Allowed

If anyone needs service animals due to physical disabilities, they can bring theirs. Service animals include trained dogs and miniature horses.

Aside from the above-mentioned permitted items, here’s a list of other permitted items you can bring inside Oakland Coliseum.

  • Hand sanitizer
  • Sunscreen
  • Lotion
  • Makeup box
  • Laptops and tablets
  • Noisemakers (Yes! They are allowed. Just avoid compressed air-horns and whistles)
  • Cushions for seat
  • Strollers. But, they must be able to be folded and fit under your assigned seat.

Note: The Oakland-Alameda County Coliseum Authority reserves the right to change the policy for any permitted items at any time.

FAQs

Here are some other relevant queries people also ask about the Oakland Coliseum bag policy and others.

Can I re-enter the Oakland Coliseum after exiting once?

No, there is no re-entry facility out there. If you exit the ballpark once, the ticket you’re holding becomes invalid.

Will the ballpark authority store my prohibited items?

No. The Oakland Coliseum Authority will not store any prohibited items. If you bring them, bring with you your own risks. They will be discarded once they are checked in at the entry gates.

Even the authority isn’t responsible for any items of yours that are seized at the entry gate. The same goes for the prohibited bags too.

Final Thoughts

Oakland Coliseum bag policy is reliable and easier than any other ballpark in the USA. It is because they allow you to bring backpacks inside the park regardless of the size. There are no issues with clear and non-clear bags.

However, all bags are subject to inspection at the gate while you are entering. No prohibited items will be returned to you once they are checked at the gate. Even if you don’t cooperate with the gate security, the management will not allow you to enter the ballpark at all.

So, follow the rules, regulations, and policies. Make yourself a loyal guest to the rules, and enjoy your amusements.
