If you are talking about entertainment, Travis D’arnaud is your man. What he did during the Washington Nationals Vs Atlanta Braves match was hilarious and one of my favorite and funniest moments in baseball.

Let’s come to the story that made me laugh. Dee Strange-Gordon from the Nationals threw a fastball. 

The throw hit D’arnaud directly. And then how he acted was so funny that I am still laughing while writing the story. Have you ever watched the “Wasted” scene from Grand Theft Auto? 

Similar to that scene, D’arnaud fell over, making everyone laugh. Even the commentators were laughing very hard. He lay there for around five seconds. Later on, he stood up laughing and ran to first base.  

Not only his teammates but also his opponents were laughing too. This is the essential thing. Enjoy while you play the game.

Rainy days can be gloomy. But not in baseball. 

Quite some time back, in one of the matches between Texas Rangers Vs. Baltimore Orioles, the match was delayed because of the rain. I thought this match would take time today. So, I was going to turn off the TV, but one thing stopped me from doing so.

I saw slugger Josh Hamilton lead some of the Texas Rangers and run to do a slide in the slippery wetted rain-drenched tarp. When all of them were running towards it, the scenario looked funny. 

Enjoying everyone and making others laugh is something only some legendary players will do. Everyone else just plays “Professional Baseball”. That is why I admire this amazing guy Hamilton a lot.

“Sho Him the Way”

Do you know the guy Shohei Ohtani of the Los Angeles Angels? You know he does a lot of “Sho Off” in the field. Yeah, I know that was lame, I tried to be a bit funny.

But I found it funny what he did with Toronto Blue Jays member Ramiel Tapia. As we all know how legendary Ohtani’s throws are. Similarly, he threw a fastball to Tapia. 

Tapia had an average shot, but it did not pass from Ohtani’s hand. Because he caught the ball that was going through first and second base. Ohtani immediately rushed to first base, where Tapia was running to get safe. 

But it was too late for him. I know you are thinking, “Hey, that’s a sad story; where is the hilarious part?”

Well, the hilarious part is here. After Ohtani got into first base, he had done the signature move, “Sho Tapia the way”, which made the audience, and commentators laugh. The scenario was indeed so much fun to watch. 

Mascot Mishaps on the Run

One of the iconic things that happened in baseball is the arrival of mascot mishaps. They made the game more interesting with their funny and quirky behavior. 

Now, I can name a lot of moments in baseball where these mascots did a lot of funny things. Let me give you some examples – 

• Getting into a fight and suddenly falling is Mishap’s daily routine. People laugh at their ridiculous behaviors like this. Funny enough, they love to do it more and more too.
• Did you see a mascot that wants to wear a flying hat from Kendrick, a Washington Nationals player? The scenario was so funny and cute when I watched it. 
• Sometimes, mascots do some funny stuff that makes some people entertained and some of them angry. One mascot took a person’s hat and rubbed it to his butt. It looked very funny. The guy was angry at the beginning, but later on, the mascot made him laugh too.

Crowd Cheering the Squirrel

I never thought chasing a squirrel could be so much fun. Can you believe one of the funniest moments in baseball history is chasing and catching a squirrel?

The story is from not long ago. In a tight match between the Chicago Cubs and Pittsburgh Pirates, a squirrel took everyone’s attention for a moment. After Killian from the Chicago Cubs threw a ridiculous pitch, the camera suddenly focused on the squirrel.

I was thinking, why the squirrel? But I was not prepared for what happened next. Everyone was cheering for the squirrel. The commentators’ comments were so hilarious. Then again, the game was going on. Killian did four balls and let the striker walk to first base.

I think he was distracted by the squirrel incident. But who thinks about that when a squirrel is running everywhere, making people enjoy the show?

Then happened to be the best moment of that day. The PNC Park grounds crew came to capture the squirrel with nets, baskets, and clothes. But the squirrel made a run of them. Everyone tried to capture it but failed miserably.

The squirrel ran past them, but still they could not catch it. People were laughing, booing the crew for taking so much time to catch the squirrel and enjoying the moment. Meanwhile, the squirrel was running zigzagging to get to a safe position from them.

Later on, the squirrel went to the Chicago Cubs’ side of the field and got caught over there. That was one big show that I watched that day. 

Marcus, It’s Your Time to Bat!

It can be so good to chill a bit in the dugout when your time has not come to bat. Similar goes for Marcus too. It looked so hilarious when he rushed to the home base. 

In one of the Texas Rangers matches Marcus was sitting in the dugout chilling by himself. He totally forgot he was on deck. Suddenly while chilling, he stood up and ran to get his gears ready. 

The funniest thing is that the camera guy was actually filming him at that time. The commentators were laughing a lot when they got to see the situation. When I saw this, I was like, “What are you doing, Marcus, go to the base already!” and was laughing a lot. 

For me, this was one of the funniest moments in baseball. Marcus still got on the deck in time, as he had great gear. What if you also fall into the same situation as Marcus did?

Boy, oh boy! I love to see them dance while pitching. To be honest, whatever they do, I like them. They make a show of themselves at every match. Not only that, they dance before pitch, catch a fly ball by doing a backflip, strike out their opponent within 10 seconds, and the list goes on.

But for now, let’s talk about one of the hilarious moments this team did in one match. The pitcher Ryan Kennedy of the Bananas was going to throw the ball to the batsman. There is a proverb that says, “Never let them know your next move”, which was splendidly done by Kennedy.

It’s known as the “Banana Ball”. He did a splendid dance before pitching, and people were cheering him alongside the centerfielder, shortstop, and second baseman. They backed him up a lot in this dance. And the crowd was laughing a lot, enjoying the moment.

Catching Home Run Ball with a Popcorn Bucket

Have you ever caught a home run ball with a popcorn bucket? It sounds ridiculous, right? Well, the ridiculous thing actually happened, making people laugh and enjoy the moment a lot.

In one of the matches between the New York Mets and Atlanta Braves, Lucas Duda shot a home run. But that did not make any sound because what happened later was the most important one for the spectators. 

This happened in the right field as the fan was sitting there chilling with the popcorn. The ball directly got into one of the spectator’s popcorn buckets. He was so thrilled, and the fans beside him were laughing while watching the incident, enjoying it a lot. 

I would love to make this memory one of the memorable ones for that guy. Because the emotion he showed in the field was genuine. 

Some of the Short But Funniest Moments in Baseball History

I know; licking your bat before hitting it can look gross. But it looked funny when Pete Alonso did it. Before going to home base to hit the ball, he was licking his bat in such a way that looked so funny. I know some people may get triggered by this. Take it as fun; nothing serious in it.

But that was not the only thing that made me laugh. One of the commentators said something so funny that I was laughing till I broke. And that line is “You are getting canker sores and Thrush”. 

Getting Kisses and Slaps

Sometimes, baseball players have a little bit of fun. But not all of them are recorded. One of the scenarios that I have found is Ozzie Albies getting kisses and slaps. At first, he gets a beautiful kiss. And later on, the slaps are so humorous.

It all happened at the Braves dugout. The thing is, this whole thing was meant for fun. And I really laughed a lot when I watched their silly jokes.

Foul Ball Beer Chug

Another short incident where a fan at Petco Park catches a foul ball by the beer cup. Oh my, you would have loved the crowd. They all were laughing and cheering for the girl who got the found ball in the cup. 

Later on, she chugged the whole beer cup that was holding the ball. The cheer was so intense that it went on and on until she finished the whole beer. That was one heck of an incident that I have watched in my life.

Is That a Fake Mustache?

Have you ever thought of making a fake mustache to fit in with your mustache-wearing friends? Not only that but did you draw it? If you did not do it or even watch it, this means you have missed something hilarious. 

The scenario I asked you about above has been done by a player of the Pittsburgh Pirates, Ronny Cedeno. This happened in a match between the Pittsburgh Pirates and San Francisco Giants. 

The commentators were having most of the fun as they were only commentating “missed a little bit on the lips side,” or “how hilarious it is looking”, etc. I really think this was one of the funniest things Cedeno has shown in his baseball career. 

The camera guy did a good round-up check on Cedeno, and it was really hilarious of them to do that. Because whenever they are taking shots of Ronny, they all are close shots. And they looked so funny.
