Comerica Park Bag Policy 2024 – Don’t Get Yourself Out Of The Ballpark!

Comerica Park bag policy has a list of permitted and prohibited items that you should familiarize yourself with before heading to the ballpark. In terms of permitted items, you can bring along single-compartment bags, wallets, and clutches that are smaller than 4 x 6 x 1.5 inches.

Medical or first-aid and diaper bags and even blankets are allowed after passing a thorough bag check conducted by the park’s security team.

“But there are a few things you should leave at home, like big purses, glass bottles, cameras with detachable lenses, and, unfortunately, your pet tiger (unless it’s a service animal, of course).”

You can either leave prohibited bags or items in your vehicle or use a nearby storage locker service which costs around $5.90. However, having detailed knowledge is compulsory to avoid consequences.

And trust me, you don’t want to be turned away at the gate!

Comerica Park Bag Policy in 2024: Detailed Explanation

Detroit Tigers fans attending games at Comerica Park should also get a detailed understanding of the bag policy.

In 2023, the ballpark included specific sizes and types of bags that are permitted. Besides, they have rules for medical or first-aid and diaper bags, wallets, and clutches. Start digging more about their ballpark policy.

Sizes and Types of Permitted Bags in Comerica Park

Going to Comerica Park for a game requires an understanding of the bag policy. Here are the types and sizes of bags you can bring into the park:

  • Only single–compartment items smaller than 4 x 6 x 1.5 inches. Bags larger than these dimensions aren’t allowed.
  • Factory-sealed or clear plastic bags are also allowed inside Comerica Park.
  • According to the existing no-bag policy, no backpacks, purses, or clutches are allowed into the venue.

“However, the no-bag policy in Comerica Park has recently been updated, and has some exceptions for medical and kid reasons.”

Comerica Park Policy for Medical/First-Aid and Diaper Bags

Visiting Comerica Park was a bit of a headache for me as their bag policies are pretty strict compared to other baseball ballparks.

But one thing that seems fair to me is that they understand certain necessities can’t be left at home. For example,

  • Baseball fans with medical conditions may need to carry a medicine or first-aid bag. It can be as simple as painkillers or diabetes pills.
  • For those emergencies, Comerica Park allows medical bags inside the ballpark after passing a thorough bag check conducted by the park’s security team.
  • Also, moms and dads don’t need to worry about carrying diaper bags either!
  • As of Comerica Park bag policy updates in 2024, they respect the size limit of 16 x 16 x 8 inches for diapers.
  • Without that, breast pumps, oxygen, insulin, and epi-pens are also allowed.

“Moreover, plastic baby bottles won’t pose any issue if there’s an infant in your group.”

My Experience with Bag Inspection in Comerica Park in 2024

From the beginning, the Comerica Park bag policy is strict to ensure high-end safety of visitors

When entering Comerica Park, the security team will review your bags. The screening process is conducted with strong metal detectors. So, there’s no scope for bypass.

Don’t get it offensively. This is to ensure the safety and security of all fans. Here’s what I experienced when I visited Comerica a year ago:

Step 1: The Arrival Drama

Arriving a bit early is wise if you don’t want to stay behind a long tail of people. I reached Comerica Park at 9 am though their gate opening time for visitors was 10.30.

Step 2: Manual Bag Inspection

As I went close to the entrance, the bag inspection show began. The security team seemed friendly but didn’t relax their protocols.

First, they opened my wife’s bag and manually inspected if there was anything wrong.

Step 3: Metal Detector Shuffle

After passing the manual bag checking, they started the inspection with a handheld metal detector. Anyway, with pockets clear, we took my turn through the detector.

“A bit of advice: pockets must be emptied of any metal treasures like keys, mobile phones, and more.”

Visitors Guide If the Bag Size is Larger Than Comerica’s Bag Policy

If your bag is larger than the permitted size, you’ll not be allowed to bring it into Comerica Park according to the Detroit Tigers’ bag policy. In this case, you’ve got two options:

  1. Either return the non-permitted items to your vehicle
  2. Or else, utilize one of the nearby storage locker services like Bounce, which will cost you $5.90 per day.

So, make sure to plan ahead and only bring bags that meet the size requirements.

Comerica Park’s Guest Code of Conduct

When attending events at Comerica Park guests must follow their code of conduct that promotes positive behavior.

This means treating other guests, staff members, and fans of the opposing team with respect and dignity.

You’ve to act responsibly and respectfully to others. Follow the rules and enjoy the game without causing problems.

However, sometimes, baseball fans become overwhelmed and stop caring about the limit 😂!

Consequences for Non-Compliance

The Detroit Tigers take discriminatory fan behavior seriously and act to address it.

If you don’t follow the rules, you could get kicked out, lose your tickets, and face legal action. For instance:

  • Guests must follow rules for accessibility, such as using seating, parking, and restrooms.
  • Everyone must follow the rules about alcohol, like showing ID and following the limits.
  • Guests aren’t allowed to interfere with balls during play, it’ll result in kick outs or legal consequences.
  • For safety reasons, it’s strictly prohibited to stand or step on seats. Guests who fail to comply with this rule may be asked to leave the ballpark.
  • To make sure the environment is safe, guests must follow the bag policy. This policy limits the size and type of bags allowed in the ballpark. Non-compliance may result in denial of entry.
  • Banners and signs must adhere to guidelines and restrictions. Failure to follow these guidelines may result in the removal of the banner or sign.

In a nutshell, like any other baseball ballpark, the people in charge of Comerica Park can decide to take legal actions if you disrespect or disobey any of their policies.
