History of Softball Chants
The history of the softball chants is as old as the games. The chants had started to be used in the initial phase of the softball games started in the late 19th century.
Basically, softball was invented as a form of indoor baseball. It was first played in 1887 in Chicago. The chants were first used back then to cheer up and encourage the players.
By the way, did you know that organized cheerleading was established around the 1960s to cheer up American Football teams?
US CHEERS cited According to Britannica:
“Despite the fact that cheering is primarily associated with women nowadays, the sport’s first cheerleaders were male. Midway through the 1800s, gridiron football first appeared in Ivy League schools and universities in the United States, and cheerleading’s development and formalization followed.
