People do pranks here and there all the time. Some are a success, and some go wrong, isn’t it? Similarly to that, there are many stadium pranks on the baseball field done by baseball players. Some were hilarious, and some went so wrong, leading to even a breakup.
When I see friends or teammates doing silly pranks on others in the baseball stadiums, I enjoy them a lot (of course, not the ones with personal attacks or harming someone!). Sometimes, they prank me, and sometimes I do a little bit with them.
Henceforth, in this blog, I will make you enter the prank world, where you will read about the pranks that went viral in baseball stadiums and fields. Come, let’s enjoy the pranks together.
Are Stadium Pranks in the Baseball Field Good?
I know the point that pranks mean making practical jokes on someone. The other person may not like it. But not all pranks are so bad that others regret it, right?
We can joke around with our friends in the field. Sometimes I may prank them, and sometimes they will. This is not a matter that you should take personally or someone getting hurt.
But this does not feel good when the person who got pranked is harmed physically or mentally. Not only me; no one in the world will like those cheap pranks.
So, if you are thinking about pranking your friends, teammates, or anyone close, make sure it does hurt them physically or mentally.
Some of the Best Stadium Pranks in Baseball Field
I have already talked about many definitive things, but let us not waste any time and get into the pranks. You will surely be entertained by these pranks happening with so many players or other individuals on the baseball field.
Indians Player Doing Car Parking Prank
Doing pranks with rookies is easy, but what about doing pranks with some good old shoes? The same happened with Indians shortstop Jose Ramirez.
One day, Jordan Bastian, the Indians beat writer, tweeted a photo of a BMW car parked on the field at the spring training facility in Cleveland. And the car is none other than Jose Ramirez’s BMW.
No clue who did this. And as it is parked at a shortstop, Ramirez had to move the car himself before he could practice at his position.
But later on, I got to know that Mike Aviles was the one who did the pranks. He even told the reporters why he did this! A man with true motive, I dare say.
He told the reporters that Jose liberally parks in the team lot. So he said that he would part it somewhere a little bit comfortable, such a statement. Even manager Terry Francona was also a fan of the prank.
The prank was too easy because Jose must have left the keys unattended. And I believe his teammate got it easily.
Cream Pie in the Face!
Have you watched the match between the LSU baseball club and Alabama Baseball Club? The match is a win for LSU. But that is not the main part. Do you know what happened after that very match?
I laughed so badly after what I saw at the postgame interview time. And do you know who was on the mic? It was the famous junior outfielder Raph Rhymes of LSU.
Now, the team is already pleased with the outcome they got. So, one of the team members, the great third baseman Tyler Hanover tried something funny. He had moved to the back of Rhymes slowly.
In the hand of Hanover, there was a shaving cream pie. Can you guess what happened later on?
Hanover smeared Rhymes’s face with that cream pie. And when this happened, the senior first baseman, Grant Dozar, said this line in the great broadcasting voice he had,
“And LSU’s Leading Hitter is Missing the Final Game of the Series with an Eye Infection”. Funny, isn’t it?
I Have a Hidden Ball with Me – Actually, I don’t
What if someone surprises you with something that is out of your expectation? I don’t know about you, but if I am standing on any of the bases and a fielder is trying to out me while I am on the base, it can be frightening.
And some players actually did a prank like this. Even though not having the baseball, touching the 1st, 2nd, or 3rd baseman can give that baseman a heart attack. And that is what Phillips, a Cincinnati Reds player, did to Guardians number 4 player Juan Uribe.
How the player got scared, and later he also caught up with the prank was hilarious and also respectful of him. That is why I also laughed a lot after watching this.
The same happened caused by Luis Valbuena. He did the same fake hidden ball trick, and the player was actually confused. The other player was so confused that he was checking whether there was a ball inside or not.
While talking about catching and hiding baseball in the glove, I wanted to inform you of some glove advice. Do you know for different positions, there are different types of gloves? If you don’t, then you should learn to find the best baseball gloves by position.
A Sound Guy Doing Curveball?
If you have not heard about Greg Maddux, one of the historical curveball men pranking Kris Briant, a Chicago Cubs star, then you have missed a big thing. But do not worry, I am here to give you all the knowledge here.
To be honest, this is a hilarious prank. This type of prank is the best, and I would love to watch more.
One day, Bryant was asked to come to a Las Vegas baseball field to do some shooting in a batting practice video. Bryant was unaware of the prank (Obvious!), and he showed up there in time.
At the very beginning, Bryant was totally into the game. As Las Vegas is known as a “good baseball town”, any baseball player will get a little bit serious and will get in the game.
The start-up was great. Maddux was in disguise as “Sound Guy” in the field and was commenting on Bryant’s hits. As the prank goes on, everyone is doing what they were told properly.
The pitcher who was throwing the ball before Maddux joined in left the field because of a call (pretending, of course). Finding no other pitcher, the so-called “Sound Guy” joined as a pitcher and started to throw the balls.
After some pitches, Bryant got a realization, “This sound guy has got a good curveball. What is this?” and again tried to hit some balls.
After Bryant satisfies himself by hitting a good home run shot, Maddux reveals himself to Bryant, which surprises him a lot. Thus, Bryant was hitting the best curveball specialists curve balls without even knowing about it.
Planting a Tree in Front of the Pitcher’s Mound
If you are a pitcher, then you know how essential a pitcher’s mound is. A pitcher utilizes their lower body because of the mound. But what if someone plants a tree in front of that mound?
Surprised? So was I, too, when I first heard the news. In fact, the news was so intimidating that it went viral all over the nation.
Now, the story is something like this. Someone who loves to prank had planted a tree in front of the pitcher’s mound at Franklin High School baseball field.
Then a sophomore ball player took a picture of the scenario and tweeted it, which went viral. Did you know how many times it got retweeted? More than 1,500 times, as the report says.
However, the tree was there for a temporary period. But whoever did the prank undoubtedly did a hilarious thing. It was one of the best pranks that I found on the baseball field.

Do Not Cross – No “Mo” Zone
Suppose you have been a huge fan of baseball for a long time. In that case, you may know or have heard the news about one of the Yankees members, Mariano Rivera’s right “Anterior Cruciate Ligament” tearing injury. Uff! That’s actually a painful injury.
This occurrence happened at Kauffman Stadium in Kansas City, one of the oldest baseball stadiums like other stadiums.
Now, this injury was Rivera’s one of the career-changing injuries. If the complete knee ligament construction did not work, he had to leave his career as a professional baseball player forever. But he made a remarkable comeback from that injury.
The news was going to be about Rivera’s knee injury and the remarkable comeback. But there was another news that overwhelmed Rivera’s news. And that was just a classic prank!
What Rivera’s teammates, and the other Yankee players, did was amusing. When he started doing his regular shagging routine for better recovery, he found out the exact place where he got injured. But how did he know that was the exact place?
He found a chalk outline at that spot that made him realize where he lay down when he was injured. The funniest thing is, there was a sign right at the top of that outline written “No ‘Mo’ Zone” with some “Stop” signs and “CAUTION” tapes.
To be honest, Rivera loved the prank and even was laughing too. Whoever did the prank really made Rivera feel at home with this. Such an emotional story!

Asking Camera Crew to Check on the Guy’s Roommate in the Baseball Stadium
Getting a roommate who will ask the camera people of a baseball stadium to show where you are in their video can be unexpected. Especially if it happens when you are on your second date. Can you feel the situation?
This incident actually happened. A guy wanted to do a prank, a safe one, of course. Have you heard of Connor Buckley, also known as BuckArmy? He has a roommate Matthew, also known as MBoneHD.
Now, the story has a good start. Matthew went on a second date with a woman named Emma. And the place of their second date was in the Diamondbacks Stadium. The match was between the Arizona Diamondbacks and Miami Marlins.
Let’s come back to where I stopped. Connor was already drunk after doing a long podcast. He knew his roommate went on a second date in a televised game. So, he turned on the TV to watch the game.
But suddenly, he wanted to see how the date was going on. So, he played a prank. What he did was, he gave a shoutout of the stadium by tweeting them. He there asked them whether his friend is doing great or not.
The fun fact is Diamondbacks stadium was also supporting and looking for Matthew too. This means they also became a part of this prank. And they did their best to find Matthew and show him on the big screen.
After some unsatisfactory search, Connor tried to call Matthew to get his location. And when he was successful in getting his roommate’s location, the real fun began.
The camera zoomed in and showed their dates on the big screen. Matthew understood who did this prank and texted him, saying some friendly stuff. He was really happy, although he was pranked.
By the way, if you do not know how the team name came into history, you can check them out. Some many histories and chains made the names of different teams that you may not know. I would love you to check them out if you want to learn everything about your star team.
Do You Want to Get a Souvenir Ball? I Guess It’s Not Happening
Many of us baseball game lovers will find a souvenir ball after the end of an inning. And the player who gives away the ball is the outfielder. But sometimes, you may get tricked without even knowing how.
The prank happened in a match between the New York Yankees Vs. Toronto Blue Jays in Yankee Stadium. After the 6th inning, Jose Bautista, the outfielder of Blue Jays, gestured toward the stadium outfield and pretended to throw the ball to the fans.
You will get your jaw dropped when you see the reactions of the spectators. They were also looking forward to catching the ball. But it never happened. Bautista pranked them by not throwing the ball.
Later on, it came to his mind that it might lead to some hefty situations in the later innings, so he threw the ball to the same spectators for the second time. But now, it is time for the audience to do something.
The person who caught the ball threw it back to the field. It is a showcase of showing that the Yankee fans can not be this pranked. Once pranked is pranked. Wow, that is some highly motivated spectators the Yankees got, I dare say.
Failed Stadium Pranks in Baseball Field
Sometimes, baseball players try to prank each other, which may fail. Fail is a strong word to express. It is as if they could not fulfill what they wanted to do as a prank.
There are many failed pranks that I have watched happen in the stadium. So, I would like to show you some too.
Adrian Beltre’s Failed Prank on Martinez
Who does not know about Adrian Beltre? Whenever he is around, it is time for all the ballplayers to stay alert. Because he pranks them, which is always fun to watch.
In a match between the Rangers and Astros, Beltre tried to do a funny prank on Nick Martinez of the Rangers. He walked towards Martinez and used his glove to flip off Martinez’s cap. But the attempt was a failure.
But there was a friendly laugh. So, everything was fine with that. But I wish the cap had flipped. It would have been another hilarious moment that Beltre would have created with Martinez.
Stadium Pranks in Baseball Field That Went Wrong
Doing a prank on someone is okay until it does not affect the mindset of the one you pranked. Some pranks may go out of hand which leads to physical and mental disputes between individuals.
Many pranks occurred in the baseball stadium that went wrong. If you read them, you will also say people or players should not do these lousy pranks.
Boy Proposes Girl in the Gallery Gone Wrong
Let’s say you proposed to your girl in the gallery where so many people are cheering for you. This is so romantic! But what if you do it as a prank?
A similar story happened at a Blue Jays game where a guy fake proposed to his girlfriend in front of so many people. By getting down on the knee in front of her, first, he said some words.
Later from his pockets, he brought out a ring box to propose to her. She was covering her mouth with her hand as she was surprised, obviously. But what happened later was something very depressing.
The guy opened the box and pulled out a “Ring Pop”. And the woman immediately responded with a slap and a drink pouring on the guy. Everyone was shocked and looked at the girl at that time.
No one knows whether this was real or staged as the couple was totally strangers. This was so heartbreaking because no one said anything to each other after the guy had opened the ring box.
Proposing Someone Can Get You Heavily Tackled!
Proposing is a great thing. And I have watched at least dozens of proposals occur a lot of times in different stadiums. One of those that went wrong was a fan going towards the field to propose to someone in the Dodger stadium.
This may be a prank or may be real, but it went brutally wrong. When he proposed, the stadium security quickly came and tackled him very hard. Of course, they restrained him totally so that the fan could not move. The video went viral on that very day.
No one knew if it was a prank or if he actually proposed to someone. But we can determine whether it is a success or not by the tackle he got from the security guard.
Streaking Prank Went Wrong
At the very beginning, I said that pranks that have limitations are fun to watch. But sometimes, people take it to extremes and make us believe that pranks are meant to hurt people.
One of the incidents happened not very long ago. During the Texas A&M baseball game at Olsen Field, a masked streaker grabbed everyone’s attention. He had a half-naked body and was running while showing some written things in his body.
Then he tried to hop to the opposite side of the outfield wall. But little he knew, the Texas police were right on the other side. Thus getting caught in the act and was charged with criminal trespassing and disorderly conduct.
Later on, it was found out that the musk guy was none other than Spencer Werner, a freshman on the Texas A&M track team. He was later suspended from the team because of the arrest.
Frequently Asked Questions
1. How Do Players and Officials Typically Respond to Stadium Pranks?
As I have said before, if the pranks are within limitations, like not attacking physically or verbally, then they are okay. So do the players and officials think too. Sometimes they also make fun of the pranks that are going on.
But if it is a serious issue, then the officials will not withstand it and will take immediate action. There may be some pranks that they fail to detect. Most of them happen in the gallery.
2. Have There Been Any Instances Where Stadium Pranks Caused Disruptions or Delays in the Game?
There may be some delay that occurred because of some lousy pranks. But that is also countable.
Remember a prank that went wrong when a streaker with a mask was running on the field? That led to the playa delay.
Also, there was an incident when a fan ran toward the infield to propose to someone. He later got tackled hard by the guards. There were some delays when this occurred.
Most of them will have a little amount of delay time. No incident took too much time.
3. Are There Any Legal Consequences for Individuals Involved in Stadium Pranks?
Yes, there are legal consequences for individuals involved in stadium pranks. Take an example from Spencer. For what he did, the university took legal consequences. And like him, there are other legal consequences too if your prank means to hurt somebody,
Final Thoughts
Pranks on someone are great and fun, especially when we talk about stadium pranks in baseball field. So, if you want to do a prank, do not hesitate. But of course, think of it as if you are that human.
Now, what if the prank you want to do will actually hurt someone? Make sure whenever you do the pranks, they are within limits. And that is how you can build a healthy relationship with others.
